Sr. Manager, Systems Engineering & IT

Location: Vancouver & Burnaby BC, Canada

Jackpot Digital Inc. is a leading electronic table games manufacturer for the cruise ship industry and regulated casino industry. The Company specializes in multiplayer gaming products, including poker and casino games, which are complimented by a robust suite of back end tools for operators to efficiently control and optimize their gaming business.

If so, we are looking for you to fill our role as Sr. Manager, Systems Engineering and IT to lead our Systems Engineering and technical support team. The position’s responsibilities will include hands-on leadership of a growing team of Systems Engineers, managing the company’s internal IT infrastructure, designing network architecture for deploying the Company’s electronic table game (“ETG”) products with current and new customers. The role will include strategic oversight, long term planning, and hands-on systems design, management, and troubleshooting.

The ideal candidate must be an experienced, motivated, and self-starting professional who is capable of architecting and managing complex systems, leading a customer-facing team, and delivering outstanding customer support. The role will include travel throughout North America and worldwide to conferences and client locations, so the candidate must have a valid passport and willingness to travel.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Sr. Manager, Systems Engineering and IT is responsible for:

  • Leading and managing the Systems Engineering team, currently with 2 direct reports and with plans to grow.
  • Designing, managing, and updating the Company’s internal IT infrastructure.
  • Managing the Company’s long-term planning for systems, networking, IT, and other technologies.
  • Overseeing the Company’s IT security and disaster recovery plans.
  • Engaging with customers to assist with business development, customer service, and customer retention activities.
  • Develop and document processes, methodology, templates, and solutions for client networking design, internal IT, and product support.
  • Designing and leading the set up of the Company’s customer-facing IT infrastructure for installations of the Company’s electronic casino products.
  • Collaborating with the Software Development team on systems design and development of the Company’s electronic casino products.
  • Collaborating with the Manufacturing and Operations team for the planning, manufacture, and assembly of the Company’s electronic casino products.
  • Overseeing the configuration of equipment for system installations and technical service requests (Servers, PCs, Tablets, Embedded Clients, Custom Machines).
  • Leading the project team to install and service systems at customer sites world-wide.
  • Oversee and provide 24/7 technical support over email and phone for the Company’s gaming products, including after-hours on a rotating basis.
  • Resolving complex issues using reliable and sustainable solutions.
  • Overseeing and provision of support for internal IT and systems infrastructure issues.

Experience and Qualifications

The qualified candidate must possess the following:

  • At least a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience designing, installing, servicing, and maintaining Windows based systems (2003-2016)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Microsoft SQL Server installation, configuration, and administration.
  • Experience in team management (minimum 2 direct reports) and a demonstrated proficiency for team leadership.
  • Valid passport, driver's license and willingness to travel periodically.
  • Excellent oral and written communication abilities in English.
  • Successful completion of a police background check since this position will have access to sensitive areas of casino properties and will be subject to jurisdictional licencing.
  • Experience in casino IT and networking environments is strongly preferred.

  • Ability to take complex customer networking requirements and design a cost-effective solution to meet the Company’s budget and the customer’s needs.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Microsoft Exchange Server setup, management, and maintenance.
  • IP Routing, Troubleshooting (TRACERT, PING), IP Addressing, VLANs, WLAN, Encryption.
  • Excellent comprehension and knowledge of both wired and wireless computer networks.
  • Ability to understand layered networking technologies and troubleshoot connectivity issues.
  • Ability to manipulate, understand, and troubleshoot PCs at the hardware, software, and networking levels.
  • Ability to understand and navigate Microsoft SQL Server and SQL security, and carry out complex SQL queries.
  • Ability to design, understand, and implement Disaster Recovery backup solutions.
  • Comprehension of electricity and incoming power termination.

Nice to have

  • Poker and/or casino gaming knowledge.
  • Fluency in other languages.

Software Engineer / QA Automation Engineer

Location: Vancouver & Burnaby, BC

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain an automated test infrastructure
  • Write efficient and reusable automation code
  • Design and develop structured test plans and test cases using best practices in an Agile environment
  • Participate in our agile process by being an active contributor in daily standups, sprint kick-offs, demonstrations, and retrospectives


  • 3+ Years of QA Automation Experience
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in computer science or equivalent
  • Ability to write tests in both Java and Javascript
  • Experience using automated testing tools for integration, unit, performance and client testing
  • Experience building testing frameworks
  • Experience with service based testing of RESTful APIs
  • Experience with continuous integration, continuous delivery and best practices for QA automation

Nice to have

  • Experience with SQL and relational databases
  • Experience working with Agile software development methodologies
  • Experience using Angular, Bootstrap, Play Framework
  • Familiarity with and enjoyment of poker and casino games
